Patrol Officer

As a District Police, Patrol Officer with Vets Hired, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, visitors, and property at Austin Community College campuses.

This is a unique opportunity to join our team and make a positive impact on our community. As a Patrol Officer, you will be responsible for providing safety and security services to our campus community, responding to emergencies, and enforcing laws and regulations.

• Perform all duties of a licensed police officer within the context of a college environment, coordinating and assisting other officers as needed.
• Write and file daily logs, incident reports, issue parking permits, and citations.
• Provide faculty and staff, students, and visitors with information and directions.
• Open and secure buildings and classrooms, maintaining departmental equipment and monitoring college equipment inventory in routine patrols.
• Testify on behalf of the college in all court proceedings as required.
• May be required to act as a lead police officer in orienting, training, or assisting other officers.
• Inform and work collaboratively with campus managers on all issues and operations related to campus safety and security, and to address identified campus needs and concerns.

• Texas Peace Officer License and Valid Texas Drivers License.
• Must meet all Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education requirements for employment as a patrol officer.
• Ability to successfully complete criminal background check, drug screen, and psychological and physical examinations prior to employment. Past supervisors may be interviewed for a reference.

This position requires the ability to work in various environments, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and climbing. The ability to restrain persons and perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels is also required.
