Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist II to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Excellence/Patient Care
    • Perform clinical assessments and diagnostic ultrasound examinations for adult patients, including inpatient and outpatient services.
    • Apply cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information and images.
    • Analyze sonograms, process sonographic information, and medical history, and communicate findings to physicians.
    • Prepare preliminary reports and contact referring physicians as required, according to established protocols.
    • Initiate billing for testing performed and maintain active registry status.
  • Development and Patient Education
    • Coordinate work schedules with department leads or managers to ensure workload coverage.
    • Assume responsibility for the safety and mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the care of the sonographer.
    • Organize daily work schedules and perform clerical duties with accuracy.
    • Maintain and recognize malfunctioning equipment, perform minor troubleshooting, and initiate repair services when warranted.
    • Participate in the laboratory accreditation process and department quality improvement processes.
  • Basic UPH Performance Criteria
    • Demonstrate UnityPoint Health values and standards of behaviors.
    • Meet business needs of the department with regular, reliable attendance.
    • Practice and reflect knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA, and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
    • Complete all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited cardiac sonography program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Sciences or Health Science.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in vascular diagnostics.
  • Current registry in cardiac sonography through the ARDMS/CCI.
  • BCLS.
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
