Role Summary and Responsibilities
Rapid Response Nurse
In accordance with the Tennessee Board of Nursing, Registered Nurses (RNs) are responsible for delivering and coordinating patient care, educating patients and families about various health conditions, and providing emotional support to patients and their families. RNs must exercise independent and critical judgment while delivering a range of services in a critical care setting. The Rapid Response Team (RRT) aims to assess, intervene early, and stabilize patients to prevent clinical deterioration or arrest. Additionally, the RRT offers teaching, mentoring, and support to nursing units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, document, and communicate changes in patients' conditions, including MEWS alert notifications.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
- Conduct regular rounds in all inpatient clinical areas.
- Provide educational opportunities to meet the facility's continuing education requirements.
- Adjust patient treatment plans based on responses and conditions.
- Prepare patients for examinations or treatments and assist as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure by the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- CPI certification required within six months of hire, maintained per hospital policy.
- CCRN certification preferred.
- A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience in an ICU or Critical Care setting is required; additional experience in medical-surgical nursing is preferred.
