Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement to join our faculty at Navajo Technical University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the field of criminal justice and law enforcement, as well as contributing to the development of our academic programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver high-quality instructional content in the areas of criminal justice and law enforcement.
- Advise and mentor students in their academic and professional pursuits.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of academic programs and policies.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research and publication.
- Participate in departmental and university service activities.
Requirements
- Master's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field.
- Two years of teaching experience in the field of criminal justice or law enforcement.
- Professional excellence, community service, and/or publication.
- Valid and clean state driver's license.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in criminal justice or a related field.
- Five years of teaching experience in the field of criminal justice or law enforcement.
- Professional excellence, community service, and/or publication.
- Valid and clean state driver's license.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Knowledge of the field of criminal justice and law enforcement.
- Knowledge of instructional policies and procedures.
- Skilled in operating computers and office machines.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to present materials effectively to individual students or groups.
- Ability to manage interpersonal conflict situations.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
Work Environment
