POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves designing and implementing treatment plans for patients referred for medical reasons, focusing on therapeutic activities, self-care strategies, and adaptive tools to alleviate, diminish, or address the disabling impacts of medical conditions, injuries, and congenital anomalies.

This professional role encompasses the responsibility of formulating and executing occupational therapy interventions tailored to patients based on physician referrals and set rehabilitation objectives.

The incumbent is also tasked with training and overseeing support staff in the delivery of therapeutic interventions and follow-up care. This position necessitates the application of independent judgment in crafting rehabilitation strategies for individual patients. Additional related duties may be assigned as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assess the physical, psychological, and perceptual impairments of referred individuals concerning their need for occupational therapy; Develop, implement, and oversee treatment methodologies, utilizing selective creative, manual, and industrial arts and crafts, recreational, educational, and other activities, as well as the fabrication of hand splints, adaptive devices, and self-care strategies; Collaborate occupational therapy efforts with other healthcare services aimed at restoring and maintaining optimal patient functionality; Evaluate and propose training in alternative occupations that align with the patients' current capabilities; Engage with contractors, designers, and architects to ensure the provision of suitable equipment, furnishings, or modifications for patients with disabilities; Communicate with the referring physician regarding the patient's treatment progress and suggest adjustments to therapy and rehabilitation goals; Maintain precise records of treatment and generate written reports on patient advancements for inclusion in their medical documentation; Participate in conferences and workshops related to patient care.
