Position Overview

Wilkes University is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Custodian during the overnight shift, specifically from Monday evening at 10 PM to Saturday morning at 6:30 AM, within the Campus Support Services department. This position offers a competitive starting hourly wage along with a comprehensive benefits package, which includes tuition remission for employees and their dependents.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will work autonomously and will be responsible for:

  • Performing daily cleaning tasks in restrooms, classrooms, hallways, and office spaces across various campus facilities, including residence halls and athletic areas.
  • Providing sanitation services and utilizing light floor maintenance equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet extractors.
  • Conducting general maintenance duties, which may include replacing light bulbs and unclogging toilets.
  • Assisting with event setups and participating in seasonal grounds upkeep.
  • Managing the removal and transportation of waste and recyclables throughout the campus.
Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a valid PA driver's license. The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Proficient technical skills to execute the required tasks.
  • The physical capability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • The ability to read and understand safety guidelines and relevant documentation.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Word, Excel, and web-based applications, are strongly preferred.

All candidates must successfully pass a background check as part of the hiring process.
