Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Patient Service Technician to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for delivering and setting up equipment at patient addresses, educating patients and caregivers on the safe use and maintenance of delivered items, and resolving customer equipment problems under emergency conditions.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding the use of personal protective safety equipment and services.
  • Assist in resolving customer equipment problems under emergency conditions.
  • Assist with implementing quality improvement programs to meet company and JCAHO standards.
  • Assume on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
  • Communicate to supervisors any vehicle problems or conditions that would compromise the vehicle's safe operations.
  • Complete shipping papers when transporting hazardous materials in accordance with Rotech policy and procedures.
  • Complete written patient visit reports following setup and follow-up visits per company policy.
  • Deliver and educate patients on the safe use and maintenance of respiratory and HME equipment in the home or office setting.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company, as well as all applicable governmental regulations.
  • Develop basic reimbursement knowledge, completely document all information.
  • Develop technical knowledge, as appropriate, of the HME or respiratory products.
  • Maintain assigned company vehicle in a clean and safe working condition.
  • Maintain delivery activity database.
  • Maintain home oxygen systems in patients' homes per company policy.
  • Manage territory to reach service goals and deliver equipment and oxygen as required in accordance with industry standards and applicable federal, state, and local governmental regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain written company records, including invoices, work orders, manifests, and logs.
  • Process all orders and required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Report equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Travel
  • Travel via company vehicle is required to patients' homes for set-ups and recurring deliveries.
Qualifications
  • Employment is contingent on a background investigation, drug screen, and valid driver's license in the state of residence with a clean driving record.
Required Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
  • Experience with medical equipment is preferred.
  • One year of related work experience is preferred.
  • Medical terminology is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
  • Accurately perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Interpret a variety of communications, including verbal, non-verbal, written, listening, and visual.
  • Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and caution when handling sensitive information.

Machines, Equipment, and Technical Abilities
  • Email transmission and communication.
  • Internet navigation and research.
  • Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Office equipment, including fax machines, copiers, printers, phones, and computers or tablets.
  • Mechanically inclined for the repair and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Successfully demonstrates loading, unloading, and proper tie-down procedures as per company policy for transported cargo.
  • Understands the use of all applicable home respiratory equipment and supplies.
Physical Demands
  • Lift and carry office equipment at times.
  • Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking, and listening.
  • Requires close vision to small print on computers or tablets and paperwork.
  • Requires lifting (minimum of 65 pounds) and transporting of patient equipment.
  • Requires contact with patients and equipment with potential exposure to contagious pathogens.
  • Requires driving a company vehicle for the majority of the workday.
  • Required to comply with Rotech Respiratory Protection & N95 Mask Fit Testing Policy.
