Job Description
We are seeking a Pediatric Emergency Nurse to join our team in the Emergency Department. The successful candidate will have at least two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Room setting, preferably in pediatrics. They will be responsible for providing care to patients with complex medical conditions, administering medications, and responding to life-saving situations. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating critical knowledge, skills, and judgement to care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies, high intensity interventions, and high-level continuous nursing vigilance.
  • Utilizing information and assessment data to anticipate and respond with confidence and adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions.
  • Identifying and prioritizing information to take immediate and decisive evidence-based, patient-focused action.
  • Monitoring and adjusting specialized equipment used on patients, and interpreting and recording electronic displays, such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, oxygen pumps, etc.
  • Responding to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
  • Observing, monitoring, and assessing patients' condition, recognizing, identifying, and interpreting serious situations and calling Physician or taking preplanned emergency measures when Physician is not immediately available.
  • Assessing patient's needs and developing/revising an individualized plan of care based on patient needs and responses.
  • Evaluating the patient's progress toward attaining expected outcomes.
  • Respecting diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
  • Functioning as a patient and family advocate.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Room setting, preferably in pediatrics.
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Maintains current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas.
