Position Overview:
The Cybersecurity Assurance Specialist will be integral in facilitating the acquisition, integration, and management of all software, hardware, systems, and network configurations for a critical mission system within the USAF Air Combat Command. This role requires close collaboration with Government stakeholders to ensure adherence to Department of Defense (DoD) and Air Force (AF) cyber directives, maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive system scans to identify vulnerabilities and provide actionable remediation strategies.
  • Work alongside system developers and administrators to guarantee the implementation of cybersecurity policies throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Develop and execute Security CONOPS that outline the methods for meeting and sustaining security controls.
  • Prepare and submit accreditation packages and necessary documentation in Xacta to secure Authority to Operate (ATO), Authority to Connect (ATC), and Certificate to Field (CTF) for mission systems.
  • Assist in testing and evaluation of new technologies, generating detailed reports, and offering specific recommendations based on findings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  • Proven ability to conduct vulnerability assessments and monitor networks to meet operational requirements.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years with a BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with an MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with a PhD.
  • Certification requirements must align with DoD M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) II.
  • Possession of TS/SCI Security Clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, Security+, or equivalent.
  • Experience utilizing Xacta for managing the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
  • Strong understanding of data transport, encryption, networking, IT systems, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Familiarity with DoD/AF cybersecurity policies, directives, and frameworks.
