Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Highway Technician Assistant I. This role will provide opportunities for growth and development in the field of road maintenance and construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Haul materials to and from job sites, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Operate dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader to work in winter months, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Operate a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting, and use chemical sprayers to maintain roadways and surrounding areas.
  • Learn and assist with basic surveying activities on construction projects, applying mathematical and technical skills to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Flag for operations requiring traffic control, ensuring the safety of workers and the public.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Within 12 months of employment, must obtain a Class B commercial driver's license and complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training, as well as Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent.
Working Conditions

Incumbents in this role will work at a highway maintenance facility or section office, at work sites throughout the assigned work area, and when necessary, district wide. The position will be exposed to risks inherent to working with large equipment and machines involved with road construction. Must be able to work extended hours and be outside during inclement weather.
