Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mammography Technologist to join our team at New London Hospital. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic Imaging Procedures
    • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures according to established protocols and standards, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
    • Adjust patient care to meet the needs of patients of all ages.
    • Operate imaging equipment safely and efficiently, minimizing hazards to patients and staff.
    • Determine the most suitable imaging position and shielding for optimal results and patient comfort.
    • Follow the ALARA principle to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and responding to their questions and concerns.
    • Scan patient paperwork into our PACS system and maintain a working knowledge of the system.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in CD burning and complete patient charges in a timely manner.
    • Transport patients to and from the department and maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Special Diagnostic Testing
    • Perform CAT scans and mammography procedures as assigned, demonstrating competency and adhering to established protocols.
    • Minimize radiation exposure while achieving diagnostic-quality images.
  • Administrative Responsibilities
    • Access patient reports using our computer system.
    • Follow protocols for releasing images and assist with administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and answering phone calls.
    • Perform daily quality control procedures and maintain accurate logs.
    • Participate in annual surveys and inspections and provide assistance to students as needed.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Graduate of an accredited school of radiology technology.
    • Registered or licensed with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT).
    • Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • 0-1 year of hospital experience preferred.
