Job Summary:

Navarro College is seeking a part-time Peer Tutor to provide academic support to students. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Academic Advisor/Tutoring Coordinator and/or District Coordinator of Academic Success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend required training sessions to develop skills and knowledge in tutoring and academic support.
  • Apply learned skills to provide one-on-one and small group tutoring to students, incorporating various learning styles and strategies.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the curriculum and course requirements within their subject area and teach in a manner that supports student learning.
  • Provide tutoring services that address multiple learning styles, affective factors, and study skills, as well as utilize technology to support student learning.
  • Be punctual and notify the supervisor of any delays or absences from work.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed a course in the subject area with a minimum grade of B or higher.
  • Must have a faculty recommendation from an instructor in the subject area or a professional letter of recommendation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Navarro College student.
  • Tutoring experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Variances from regular working hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
  • Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.
  • May be required to provide tutoring services in a fully online/remote environment.

Compensation:

$10.00 per hour / up to 19 hours per week
