Job Summary:The Ambulatory RN 2 plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in an ambulatory setting. This position requires a skilled and compassionate nurse who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing patient needs and collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities:- Establishes a caring and therapeutic relationship with patients and families through effective communication, empathy, and mutual goal setting.
- Implements a plan of care that incorporates the unique characteristics of patients, families, groups, and communities, utilizing evidence-based ambulatory care nursing interventions.
- Maintains positive, professional relationships with all members of the healthcare team, collaborating and communicating effectively to meet the needs of patients and families.
- Coordinates care using the nursing process, multidisciplinary collaboration, and coordination of all appropriate health services and community resources across the care continuum.
- Utilizes evidence-based strategies, standards of care, and protocols to improve patient care and outcomes.
- Participates in and contributes to system and clinic-based quality initiatives, research, and development of care protocols.
- Demonstrates accountability for implementing policies related to safe and effective administration of medications, use of medical devices, and performance of patient procedures.
- Applies the teaching-learning process to meet the learning and self-management needs of patients and families.
- Assesses patient safety needs and implements appropriate strategies to minimize risk during clinical visits, telephone encounters, and electronic communications.
- Recognizes changes in patient status and consistently responds effectively to optimize patient outcomes.
- Utilizes competent assessment skills to holistically evaluate the physical and psychosocial needs of patients and families throughout the care continuum.
- Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure (State of IN RN licensure required for those working in Indiana)
- At least one year of nursing experience required
- Earned Nursing Degree at the Baccalaureate level or higher for those hired after January 1, 2014
- Current CPR Certification
- Oncologic Infusion RN2: Current ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Course Certificate or APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy provider card (pediatric infusion)
- Non-Oncologic Infusion RN2: Current ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Course Certificate, ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy: Fundamentals of Administration provider card, or Certified Registered Nurse of Infusion (CRNI)
- National Certification
- Ability to walk throughout the Medical Center and to be standing or walking most of the designated shift
- Ability to lift or carry objects 35-40lbs. and lift and position patients, some of whom may exceed 300lbs.
- Work conditions include performing procedures where carelessness could result in injury or illness and/or contact with potentially infectious materials and/or strong chemical agents
