Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Dishwasher. As a key member of our culinary staff, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate commercial dishwashing machines and pressure washers to ensure a clean and sanitized environment.
  • Maintain equipment and report any malfunctions or damage to ensure optimal performance.
  • Organize and stock kitchen supplies, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Empty trash and recycling, and load and unload the dish machine.
  • Mix chemicals to ensure correct washing and sanitizing of items, and store and label cleaning supplies appropriately.
Requirements
  • Experience in food preparation or service activities in a commercial kitchen, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge of culinary principles, practices, and procedures of food service production.
  • Basic math skills and ability to scale recipes.
  • Knowledge of NC Health Department food and safety standards.
  • Team player attitude and ability to work effectively with coworkers of diverse ages, backgrounds, and interests.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Obtain ServSafe certification within 1 year of employment.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time, permanent position with a 40-hour workweek. The schedule will include working a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings, including weekends and holidays. The position requires standing for long periods, lifting items over 50 pounds, and working in a fast-paced environment.

Competencies

The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, with the ability to resolve customer complaints in a positive manner. They will also have a strong understanding of safety and health compliance, with the ability to uphold and maintain State Policies/Procedures and University Food Services Policies/Procedures.
