About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underground Miner to join our team at Coeur Alaska's Kensington mine. As an integral part of our local community, we actively support education and workforce development programs, environmental stewardship efforts, arts and culture, and local nonprofit agencies.

The Underground Miner position will report to the Mine Supervisor and involves working 14 days on at the mine site, accessible only through company transportation, and 14 days off.

Responsibilities include setting up and inspecting equipment prior to operation, maintaining safe working areas through effective methods of work area inspections and safe work practices, and utilizing in-house drilling equipment to drill planned and directed shot patterns.

You will also be required to operate multiple pieces of powered mining equipment safely and effectively, maintain berms and scale mine workings and high-walls to ensure safe access, and examine materials or products visually or with hands to ensure conformance to established standards.

This is a physically demanding role that requires standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and talking or hearing.

Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Ability to work safe and promote safe behavior in others
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience operating underground mining equipment
  • Able to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear

Additionally, you will need to be able to move/carry objects up to 50 lbs and wear appropriate and required underground Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Location and Logistics

The Kensington mine is located approximately 45 miles north of Juneau, Alaska, and is accessible only through company transportation. You will need to be able to work in all weather conditions and climb ladders and work at heights as required by the job.
