Certified Surgical Technologist

This role entails a comprehensive understanding of various surgical interventions, assisting the surgeon with essential instruments and materials necessary for effective surgical execution. The individual will also be responsible for ensuring that inventory and supply counts are precise and sufficient for forthcoming procedures. This includes managing supply orders through the hospital's computer system or via purchase requisitions, rotating stock, and monitoring expiration dates. The position also involves researching information on medical supplies and equipment, processing special requests, and maintaining accurate patient charge records.

Primary Duties:

• Prepare and assist in surgical procedures, primarily focusing on orthopedic cases.
• Foster a collaborative relationship with all surgical staff and operating physicians.
• Demonstrate proficiency in all surgical materials and equipment.
• Assist in patient transfers to and from the surgical suite.
• Maintain a sterile environment during procedures, ensuring accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
• Review physician preference cards to gather necessary supplies and instruments for each case.
• Participate in the cleaning and preparation of the operating room.
• Manage the ordering and restocking of surgical supplies and instruments.
• Ensure proper cleaning and decontamination of all equipment and supplies.
• Accurately input patient charges into the hospital's computer system.

Essential Requirements:

• Valid certification as a Certified Surgical Technician.
• A minimum of two years of experience in orthopedic surgical technology.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
