The University of Southern California seeks an Executive Director of Benefits and Leave Administration to lead the strategic management and operational oversight of employee benefits and leave programs. This role reports directly to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources and plays a pivotal part in ensuring overall operational efficiency, coaching and developing a high-performing team, and upholding adherence to all legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Benefits Administration: The successful candidate will oversee benefit programs offered to employees, including managing USC's tuition benefit programs, voluntary benefits, open enrollment, vendor management, data management, program design and implementation while staying within budget constraints.
  • Retirement Administration: This position is responsible for managing and overseeing all retirement plans and programs offered to employees, encompassing plan design, compliance, vendor management, employee communication, accurate benefit calculations and distributions, retirement counseling, and cost management.
  • Leave Administration and Workers Compensation: The Executive Director will develop and maintain comprehensive leave policies and processes that comply with local, state, and federal regulations, collaborate with Payroll and USC's workers' compensation and disability vendors, claims management, data analysis, employee communication, and support.
  • Workwell: This individual will oversee the USC Workwell program, designed to promote a healthy work-life balance by offering health and wellness programs and resources, mental health support, employee assistance programs, wellness challenges, and incentives.
  • Childcare: The Executive Director will oversee USC childcare centers, manage childcare subsidies, partner with childcare vendors, negotiate contracts, and monitor these programs supporting employees in maintaining a productive work-life balance.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in business, finance/accounting, mathematics, or other related fields.
  • Twelve years of experience in human resources, benefits, and retirement administration, with six or more years in leadership/management roles.
  • A strong commitment to USC's Unifying Values of integrity, excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion, well-being, open communication, and accountability.

This is a Los Angeles-based position requiring a minimum of 3 days per week on-site. The estimated annual salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 based on the location and industry standards.
