About the Role

This is a highly technical and fast-paced position that requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and obtain necessary instrumentation and supplies.
  • Pass instruments to the surgeon and assistant during procedures.
  • Assist with terminal cleaning of the operating room and preparation for the next case.
  • Begin cleaning up the back table and preparing instruments for terminal cleaning and sterilization.
  • Place instruments back in the tray for transport to the Sterilization Department.
  • Be responsible for knowing and adhering to all policies and procedures, including count policy, universal protocol, and labeling of medications.
  • Work with students and inexperienced staff on correct methods for passing and retrieving instruments during surgical procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent.
  • Graduate of a certified Surgical Technologist program, military trained, or Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certified.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
  • Must have advanced competencies in a minimum of 3 specialties (specialties to be determined by each hospital).
