POSITION SUMMARY AND REQUIREMENTS:
The Humanities Institute within the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State is inviting applications for a part-time instructor role. Ideal candidates will possess teaching and/or professional expertise in film/video production, editing, and sound engineering. Responsibilities will encompass co-instruction in courses linked to the Humanities Institute's "Public Humanities Fellows Program." This initiative is designed to equip students with skills in researching and producing publicly accessible media focused on humanities topics and associated social issues. The successful candidate will co-teach two undergraduate courses: the Introduction to Public Humanities in the fall and the Public Humanities Capstone course in the spring. In both instances, the hired individual will collaborate with their co-instructor (a public humanities scholar) and will be accountable for the media production aspect of the courses. These positions are semester-based, non-tenure track appointments with the potential for reappointment.
A master's degree or an equivalent terminal degree, along with experience in documentary filmmaking and classroom instruction, is preferred.

Review of applications will commence immediately and will continue until a qualified candidate is identified. Part-time teaching is for the Academic Year and all courses are conducted in-person. There is no option for online synchronous or asynchronous instruction.
