Senior Rail Vehicle Mechanic

Position Overview:
The Dallas Area Rapid Transit is seeking a dedicated professional to oversee the maintenance and repair of rail vehicles within our Rail Maintenance Division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Supervisor in delegating work tasks and verifying daily attendance records; contribute to the training of new mechanics.
- Act as Fill-In Supervisor when requested by management or designated personnel.
- Conduct rebuilds and repairs on Light Rail Vehicle systems, including propulsion, braking systems, doors, couplers, HVAC, and various electrical systems.
- Disassemble and inspect LRV trucks and associated equipment.
- Overhaul critical vehicle systems such as brake actuators, valves, and compressors.
- Operate DART vehicles as needed.
- Support established safety protocols, training initiatives, and quality assurance measures.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent certification in Electronics Technology or Mechanical Technology from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a relevant technical field.
- Successful completion of a technical assessment is required.
- Must maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Completion of LRV/streetcar vendor training is mandatory.
- A valid Class C Driver's License is required, with a clean driving record.
- Must pass a comprehensive medical examination, including drug and alcohol testing.
- Proficient in using personal computers and software applications, including MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work safely and maintain a constant state of alertness.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Capable of making independent decisions and managing work assignments effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact with a diverse clientele under pressure.
- Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
- Effective oral communication skills for interaction with the public and team members.
- Problem-solving abilities related to mechanical and technical challenges.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and travel to various locations as required.
- Physical capability to lift up to seventy pounds and work in confined spaces.
Work Environment:
Employees may encounter exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures. Adherence to safety protocols and the use of protective equipment is essential.
