Senior GL Accountant Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the general ledger.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, coordination and completion of annual audits, and reviewing financial reports/support as necessary.
  • Manage and perform Intercompany transactions and reconciliations, ensuring all balances match.
  • Analyze and report on financial status including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management, budget preparation, and analysis.
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
  • Oversee taxes and abide by federal regulations.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Resolve complex accounting issues or assists other authority personnel in resolving financial issues.
  • Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers, and other records detailing financial business transactions.
  • Review records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification would be amazing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in general or financial accounting.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus.
  • Proficient in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and other business-related software.
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory and GAAP.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to direct and supervise.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
