Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Portfolio Analyst to join our team at CPS Energy. As a key member of our Energy Supply & Market Operations department, you will play a critical role in supporting qualitative and quantitative analysis functions for our Energy Portfolio Analytics section.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and analysis to support planning, budgeting, and decision-making for CPS Energy.
  • Develop and manage long-range forecasts for energy resources, products, and other items related to resource planning.
  • Research market information and work with internal subject matter experts and consultants to support forecast developments.
  • Leverage advanced analytics tools and techniques to drive business insights and inform strategic decisions.
  • Design, process, and manage Measurement and Verification (M&V) algorithms, peak event analysis, and reporting on program characteristics and effects on electrical system for virtual power plant-type resources and customer programs.
  • Provide analysis support on various types of projects, including new power plant projects, plant upgrade and retirement decisions, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) on solar, wind, energy storage, and other types of resources.
  • Develop and maintain models to perform statistical analysis, including multivariate regression, to support weather normalization, usage forecasting, and analysis.
  • Manage large data sets and extract information from Customer Information System (CIS) and meter data platforms for applications in various projects and processes.
  • Present analysis methodologies and results to internal stakeholders, providing recommendations as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or related field from an accredited university.
  • Advanced analytics experience, including proficiency in tools such as Excel, Python, SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, and Aurora.
  • Knowledge and experience in energy production cost modeling and forecasting.
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
