Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Estimator to join our team at R.H. White Construction. As a key member of our estimating department, you will be responsible for leading the bid team in the development of accurate and cost-competitive estimates for commercial, utility, and water/wastewater projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the bid team in the development of estimates, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings to gather project requirements and objectives.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to obtain material and subcontract pricing.
  • Identify and clarify project details with clients, engineers, and architects.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and labor and equipment production for estimate items.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and material pricing, and perform scope comparisons.
  • Develop project schedules and monitor progress to ensure developmental milestones are met.
  • Review project plans and specifications to ensure all items are accounted for.
  • Present final estimates to the Executive Officer and lead the bid team through the estimate closeout process.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or 5+ years of recent mechanical estimating experience.
  • Experience in commercial construction, utility, and water/wastewater industries is ideal.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Sage/Timberline, PlanSwift, or similar software programs.
