Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the project superintendent to analyze specifications and develop installation procedures.
  • Directs and manages the daily operations of the pipe installation crew.
  • Utilizes heavy machinery to excavate, install, and backfill large drainage pipes and culverts.
  • Monitors equipment performance to identify and address any mechanical issues.
  • Conducts site inspections to determine the best methods for pipe installation while assessing potential hazards.
  • Plans drainage installations to minimize disruptions to other project activities and public thoroughfares.
  • Ensures that all work meets quality standards and adheres to project timelines.
  • Employs tools such as lasers and levels to establish the correct grade for pipe installation.
  • Implements company policies and safety procedures.
  • Prioritizes crew safety and maintains a secure work environment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Adheres to federal, state, and company environmental guidelines.
  • Reviews and approves crew time cards.
  • Participates in daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum of 3 years of experience in underground utility operations.

Familiarity with standard construction tools and materials.

Understanding of construction best practices, equipment maintenance, and OSHA regulations.

Ability to interpret drawings, plans, and blueprints and effectively communicate this information.

Willingness to work at various locations as project sites may vary.

Demonstrates dedication and a strong work ethic.

Must adhere to Drug-Free workplace policies.

Physical fitness is essential due to the demanding nature of the work.
