About the Role

MU Health Care is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our top-tier surgical team. As a key member of our operating room team, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless OR operations and delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide timely support.
  • Assist with the teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists.
  • Serve as a role model to new employees and other staff members.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians.
  • Adhere to standards, including unit and hospital policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals.
  • Demonstrate appropriate and correct case preparation.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field and ensure the team maintains a sterile environment independently.
  • Apply basic knowledge of instrumentation to multiple surgical cases and correct deficiencies at the case level.
  • Perform technical duties involving care, preparation, and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms to provide a safe and effective environment.
Requirements
  • One (1) year of experience as a surgical technologist or completion of an accredited surgical tech program, the MU Health Care Surgical Tech program, or military training may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or Certified Operating Room Surgical Technician (CORST) certification by National Health Career Association (NHA), or Technician in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) certification by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
