Patient Care Technician CVICU

At Intermountain Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our CVICU team. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical team in delivering high-quality patient outcomes.
Job Summary:The Patient Care Technician will assist the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. This includes responding to patient care needs, assisting with hygiene care, obtaining vital signs, and communicating effectively with the care team.
Responsibilities:- Assist patients with hygiene care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Obtain vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure
- Communicate effectively with the care team, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Perform 12-lead EKG duties, as trained and competent
- Apply, check, and document restraints as directed by the RN or physician
- Perform wound care, stoma care, and specimen collection
- Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges, as directed and in compliance with safe patient handling principles
- Order and maintain office and patient care floor stock/supplies
- Perform the duties of unit secretary, including maintaining patient charts, responding to phone calls, and providing equipment care/cleaning
- Assist physicians and RNs as directed
- Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval
- Preferred: 1+ years of previous experience in a healthcare setting
This position requires regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts. Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions.
Physical Requirements:This position requires ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy is also required.
