Computer Information Systems Faculty Position

Holyoke Community College is seeking a highly qualified Computer Information Systems faculty member to join our team. As a faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching a variety of computer science courses, including foundational CIS courses and courses related to computer security, systems administration, data science, programming, network administration, and operating systems.

Responsibilities
  • Teach computer science courses, including foundational CIS courses and courses related to computer security, systems administration, data science, programming, network administration, and operating systems.
  • Develop and update curriculum to meet the ever-changing needs of industry.
  • Review and experiment with pedagogy, as well as evaluate alternative teaching strategies, including inquiry-oriented teaching, project-based learning, distance learning, and learning communities.
  • Assess course and program learning outcomes.
  • Develop and implement new courses.
  • Pursue grant opportunities.
  • Participate in program and degree advising for students.
  • Actively participate in department, division, and professional staff meetings, as well as other components of college governance.
  • Participate in college programs and activities, including holding office hours.
  • Participate in the assessment cycle within the department.
  • Work with the department to build and sustain community, workforce, and transfer partnerships.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in computer information systems, computer science, or a related field, with a minimum of two years of related experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field combined with significant related work experience.
  • Ability to teach foundational CIS courses, in addition to courses related to at least two of the following areas: computer security, systems administration, data science, programming, network administration, and operating systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to integrate computer technology into instruction.
  • Commitment to and understanding of the mission of the community college.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching or technical training experience.
  • Experience in delivering courses via distance and web-based instruction.
  • Administrative experience.
  • Experience with grant writing.
