Job Title: Psychiatric Care Technician

Oswego Health is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Care Technician to join our team at the Lobdell Center for Mental Health & Wellness. As a member of our Behavioral Services department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our clients.

Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Care Technician is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support the care and treatment of clients. This includes completing accurate admission records, setting up rooms, and orienting clients to the unit. You will also be responsible for monitoring clients who require close observation, reporting any changes in symptomology, and assisting with daily living activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete accurate admission records and set up rooms for clients
  • Orient clients to the unit and assist them as needed
  • Monitor clients who require close observation and report any changes in symptomology
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as personal hygiene and ADLs
  • Provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for clients
  • Monitor clients' behaviors and respond to emergency situations as needed
  • Adapt to the different needs of clients from adolescents to geriatrics
  • Complete group activities as assigned
  • Keep current with all posted material, policies, and procedures in the department
  • Respond to emergency walk-ins or calls as assigned
  • Assist with transport of clients to appointments and activities as assigned
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 3 college-level psychology/sociology classes or 1 year of experience working with mental health population preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Professionalism and business acumen appropriate for working with guests, clients, physicians, employees, and volunteers
  • Excellent time management skills, punctuality, and a sense of urgency in completing tasks
Working Conditions:

This position requires prolonged periods of walking, standing, and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending. You will also be required to lift, carry, reposition, and transfer residents who may weigh in excess of 200 pounds.

Oswego Health offers a competitive salary range of $17.00-$21.72/hr, based on commensurate experience and other qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
