Job Summary:

The Direct Care Worker (DCW) provides clients with various personal care and homemaker/companion services through an established plan of care, enabling them to remain in their residence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, nail/skin care, back care, foot care, shampoo, oral hygiene, ambulation, transfers, range of motion exercise, safe use of equipment and assistive devices, and toileting.
  • Provide companionship and respite services for family members, enabling them to perform homemaking activities such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry, and cleaning bathrooms.
  • Assist with medication administration under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Successful completion of a state-approved Direct Care Worker or Home Health Aide course.
  • Listing in good standing on the Pennsylvania Aide Registry.
  • Achievement of a minimum score of 80% on the competency exam (Home Health Aide Test).
  • Passing criteria on the DEARS Ethics test.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to an insured automobile or adequate transportation.
