Job Title: Lifeguard

At Whatcom Family YMCA, we are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Lifeguard. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our members and guests while promoting a positive and welcoming atmosphere in our pool area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe environment.
  • Remain alert and attentive at all times, ready to respond to emergencies.
  • Perform lifeguarding duties, including scanning the pool area, responding to emergencies, and providing first aid when necessary.
  • Participate in regular training and certification programs to maintain current lifeguarding skills and knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to maintain a clean and safe pool environment.
Requirements:
  • Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration.
  • Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
