Position Overview:
The University of Alaska Anchorage, School of Allied Health is in search of a dynamic and forward-thinking professional to join our team in a collaborative educational setting focused on delivering high-quality Allied Health courses within the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) programs.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected faculty member will be tasked with providing guidance to both prospective and current students in the medical laboratory science field. This role encompasses both theoretical instruction and hands-on laboratory training for students enrolled in the MLS programs. Additionally, the faculty member will play a crucial role in the ongoing development of the curriculum and the academic growth of the program.
Teaching and Engagement:
This position is characterized by a vibrant teaching environment that includes delivering lectures and facilitating comprehensive laboratory sessions in specialized areas such as Immunology, Molecular Diagnostics, and Transfusion Medicine. Collaborating with fellow faculty members, the individual will also engage students beyond the classroom through research initiatives, community service, and professional growth opportunities.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A minimum of five years of generalist experience in clinical practice within the last decade.
- At least three years of teaching experience in the medical laboratory domain.
- Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Science generalist from ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC.
- A Master's degree in a health-related discipline.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in Medical Laboratory Science.
Position Details:
This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty position that offers a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package. The University of Alaska provides an attractive compensation structure that includes retirement options, paid leave, and health coverage.
