Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Medication Technician to join our team at Clairmont Place Senior Living Community. As a Medication Aide Proxy Caregiver, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by administering medications and providing exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications to residents under the supervision of the Clinical Director
  • Verify resident identities and record medication administration on electronic medical records
  • Present medications to residents and observe administration
  • Take vital signs and detect responses to medication
  • Document reasons for non-administration of prescribed medications
  • Adhere to medication administration policies
  • May receive and assemble medications for administration
  • May record and restock medication inventory
  • Participate in annual proxy caregiver skills competency checks
  • Follow state proxy caregiver protocols for compliance
  • Administer medications via various routes, including oral, ophthalmic, topical, otic, nasal, vaginal, and rectal
  • Administer insulin, epinephrine, and B12 under physical direction and protocol
  • Conduct finger stick blood glucose testing
  • Administer commercially prepared disposable enemas
  • Assist residents with self-administration of medication
  • Monitor and record temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure
  • Report significant changes in resident condition
  • Change simple dressings and empty ostomy bags
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of care provided
  • Support residents, families, and proxy caregivers
  • Provide personal care, including bed baths, showers, and range of motion exercises
  • Assist residents with ambulation and transfers
  • Provide leadership oversight to team members
  • Assist with activity programs and mealtimes
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Medication aide proxy caregiver training for residents in our community
  • Med tech certification background preferred
  • Successful background check, fingerprinting, TB skin test or x-ray, and health screening
  • Full vaccination against COVID
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to work semi-independently and have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules and operating procedures
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively in front of others
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various variables
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
