We are seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join our team in Detroit, MI, to assist with our projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in design and preparation of municipal water/wastewater and roadway projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and prepare a variety of municipal water/wastewater and roadway design projects.
  • Assist with coordination with fellow MSG staff across various services sectors, including surveying, geotechnical, structural, traffic, transportation, site construction, etc.
  • Lead the preparation of transportation design plans/3D modeling for local agency transportation and/or municipal utility projects.
  • Perform and check various design calculations and perform various tasks related to preparing a design package.
  • Provide technical expertise/guidance to junior staff.
  • Prepare special provisions, plan development, storm water modeling and design, cost estimates, and detailed design plans.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of practical experience in design and plan preparation of municipal utility and roadway projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • PE certification in the state of Michigan.
  • Experience with industry design standards (e.g., MDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, etc.).
  • Understanding of guidelines and specifications.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D grading or Open Roads Designer is required.
  • Proficiency in independent preparation of Hydraulic/Hydrologic reports and roadway design experience is preferred.
