Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical operations, including OSHA, Department of Transportation, and CDC regulations.
  • Develop and implement physical evaluation programs and services to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Use nursing skills to evaluate patient care needs, prioritize treatment, and maintain patient flow.
  • Evaluate and treat all injuries and illnesses in an efficient and professional manner within the scope of practice and consistent with clinical nursing guidelines.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other licensed independent practitioners to arrange for further medical treatment when needed.
  • Collaborate with outside resources for program development, including healthcare providers, third-party administrators, legal advisors, medical directors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform occupational and health screening tests, including EKG, audiometry, spirometry, and vision tests.
  • Conduct laboratory tests and quality control procedures.
  • Administer the company's Drug-Free Workplace Program.
  • Assist with accident investigation programs to identify root cause analysis of all incidents and near misses.
  • Assess healthcare needs and implement and manage healthcare programs to improve health and facilitate return to work.
  • Assist departments with identifying, evaluating, and implementing accommodations and return to work options for workers with restricted duty.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety, Operations, and Human Resources to develop operations, programs, and services by providing content expertise.
  • Contribute to the design of controls for injury prevention and health surveillance related to actual and potential hazards in the work environment.
  • Identify primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and health promotion strategies to optimize health of the population.
  • Document accurately all elements of nursing assessment, treatments, medications administered, discharge instructions provided, and follow-up care arranged.
  • Identify emergency situations and provide care within legal scope of practice.
  • Administer medications and medical treatments competently as directed by a physician or licensed independent practitioner.
  • Maintain medical records using electronic medical record software.
  • Identify equipment that needs repair and bring it to the attention of the lead clinician.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment and follow infection control procedures.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidential patient information.
  • Participate in follow-up phone calls and follow-up patient visits.
Requirements
  • Certificate from an accredited nursing school or associate degree (A.S.) is required. Bachelor's degree (BSN) from a four-year college or university is preferred.
  • Currently licensed registered nurse in the state of practice is required.
  • Current hands-on training in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for healthcare providers is required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support may also be required based on contract scope of services.
  • Certification in occupational health nursing, certification in emergency nursing, or certificate in case management is preferred.
  • At least three years' experience as a registered nurse in an occupational health clinic, emergency room, or other ambulatory care clinic is required.
  • Knowledge of Internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with electronic medical records are preferred.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations is preferred.
