Job Overview

The HVAC Technician is responsible for the maintenance and servicing of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across various locations. This role demands a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute skilled HVAC tasks, including the installation and repair of HVAC systems and equipment; conduct inspections and tests to identify and rectify defective components.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of hot water, condenser, and chilled water systems, including associated pumps, control valves, and cooling towers.
  • Manage the upkeep of heating, cooling, humidification, and filtration systems, including fans, heat pumps, and thermostats.
  • Handle repairs and maintenance of blowers, motors, compressors, and associated controls, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Address HVAC-related issues, providing troubleshooting and recommendations for both immediate and long-term solutions.
  • Assist in the installation and repair of ductwork and insulation, ensuring proper airflow and efficiency.
  • Conduct daily inspections of residential boilers, recording operational metrics and addressing any deficiencies promptly.
  • Fabricate and maintain pneumatic control systems, ensuring seamless operation.
  • Utilize energy management systems to monitor and control HVAC operations effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and codes while performing maintenance and repairs.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules using tracking software.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of equipment and supplies, documenting usage and completed work.
  • Respond to emergency situations as required, including potential off-hours work.
  • Perform snow and ice removal duties as necessary.
  • Possess a solid understanding of HVAC systems, including refrigeration cycles, air conditioning, and control systems.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent, with vocational training or relevant apprenticeship preferred.

A Universal Certificate is required, along with a Blue Seal License and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or the willingness to obtain these credentials.

Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in operating, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems and controls is essential. Experience collaborating with external contractors for HVAC maintenance is advantageous.

  • Valid Driver's License with the ability to operate a vehicle in the State of New Jersey.
  • Proficient in English to effectively perform job duties and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Availability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Capable of using hand tools, power tools, and testing devices safely and effectively.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Able to work in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces and extreme weather.
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints and technical instructions.
  • Strong communication skills for reporting and presenting information clearly.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with timekeeping software is preferred.

  • Annual salary range of $55,000-$70,000.
