Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Stearns County, Minnesota. As a key member of our highway maintenance crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our roadways and bridges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment including trucks, pavers, motor graders, and front-end loaders to maintain and repair county roadways and bridges.
  • Perform manual labor tasks such as cutting brush and trees, filling patches and cracks, and removing debris and dead animals from roadways and ditches.
  • Assist in the performance of mechanical repairs on equipment to ensure safe and proper working condition.
  • Attend work in a regular and timely manner and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in the operation of highway construction and/or maintenance equipment.
  • Valid CDL-Minnesota Class A Driver's License without restrictions.
  • Tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
  • Able to report to work within 45 minutes in all types of weather.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Snow removal and ice control operations in a road system environment.
  • Maintenance Worker experience with a County, City, or State office.
  • Vocational training in the operation and maintenance of light construction and maintenance equipment.
