Cedars-Sinai is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate I to join our Neurology Lab team. As a Research Associate I, you will play a critical role in supporting the objectives of our laboratory research projects in the field of neurology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and execution of animal experiments, including preparation and maintenance of animal facilities.
- Conduct routine laboratory procedures and experimental protocols, including DNA/RNA and protein extraction, PCR, Western and Northern blot, cell culture, tissue and cellular staining, and rodent animal husbandry.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments and results, including data entry and database management.
- Assist in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery, including microscopes and imaging systems.
- Develop and modify animal experimental protocols, including designing and implementing experiments to test hypotheses.
- Prepare and analyze tissue samples for histological analysis, including generating microscopic images and performing image analysis.
- Develop figures and graphs for publications, including creating visualizations of data and results.
- Participate and coordinate laboratory meetings and journal club sessions, including presenting research findings and discussing results.
- Assist in manuscript and abstract preparation, including writing and editing research papers and abstracts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science-related field, such as biology, chemistry, or physics.
- Master's degree in Biological Sciences or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with animal research on cognition is highly preferred.
- Prior experience with histological/tissue processing and immunohistochemistry techniques are greatly valued.
- Experience with routine laboratory procedures and experimental protocols, including DNA/RNA and protein extraction, PCR, Western and Northern blot, cell culture, tissue and cellular staining, and rodent animal husbandry.
- Digital literacy, including proficiency in Excel and Word.
