As a Software Engineer specializing in Geo-spatial Technologies, your typical day will encompass the following responsibilities:

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Software Engineer (Geo-spatial Technologies) will utilize Geo-spatial and reference datasets to support Geo-spatial analysts in addressing intricate operational inquiries and enhancing data triage efficiency. The ideal candidate is a proficient Python developer with a background in analytics, data science, and data products. The candidate should be comfortable working independently and possess a strong commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Expertise in operational geo-spatial and reference datasets.
  • Thorough understanding of targeting challenges, mission objectives, and operational requirements.
  • Utilize knowledge of targeting missions and datasets to deliver innovative solutions to complex targeting issues.
  • Implement solutions through Python scripting, SQL queries, and Elasticsearch queries.
  • Collaborate with analysts and data engineers to enhance and sustain our organization's capabilities.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in data analysis and software development.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient hands-on experience with Python.
  • Practical experience working with Elasticsearch.
  • Experience managing code through GIT repositories.
  • Experience handling project requirements using JIRA.
  • Experience querying geo-spatial and reference data using SQL and PL/SQL.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and research capabilities.
