Job Description: High-Voltage Transmission Line Design Specialist

We are seeking an experienced High-Voltage Transmission Line Design Specialist to join our team in Chicago, IL. As a key member of our transmission team, you will be responsible for designing high-voltage transmission lines, from initial concept to final completion.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design high-voltage transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  2. Conduct cost analyses, develop design criteria, and perform routing and siting of transmission lines.
  3. Perform conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction studies to ensure safe and efficient transmission.
  4. Collaborate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components and develop proposals and cost estimates for new work.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Proficiency with PLS-CADD software for reviewing transmission line models.
  • At least 5 years of experience in transmission line design, including experience with code requirements, cost estimate development, and schedule creation and coordination.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for engineering calculations.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
