We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our team as a Gym Monitor at the YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge. As a Gym Monitor, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and fun environment for children and adults in our Gymnasium Space and Wellness Center.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure a safe and fun setting for all participants
- Exhibit genuine concern and care for children while they are in the gym
- Respond to emergency situations in a timely and effective manner
- Develop and facilitate children's activities that promote the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
- Clean and put away equipment prior to the end of programming
- Enforce and adhere to gym guidelines and schedules
- Maintain current Infant/Child CPR and first aid certifications
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled
- Initiate games and activities during shift, with planned activities ready
- Perform Gymnasium clean-up/set-up duties
- Notify supervisor of shortage of supplies, repairs needed to equipment or furniture
- Answer general fitness questions for members and direct concerns to the appropriate staff member
- Assist members on the proper use of exercise equipment
This role requires the ability to recognize members and their names, lift and move up to 45 lbs, and work in a moderate level of noise. The position also requires the ability to solve practical problems and work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications- At least 16 years of age
- CPR/First Aid Certification
