What is the role about?
The Tax Compliance Analyst plays a crucial role in delivering timely and accurate tax information support to the organization, clients, and external CPAs. This position involves analyzing and validating data for Form 1099 client reporting and assisting in the evaluation of trust tax returns through the Tax Controls program. As a vital member of the Tax team, this role contributes to meeting tax deadlines and managing various monthly and ad-hoc projects as directed by Tax Leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a tax resource for the organization and external CPAs.
- Collaborate with outsourced managed service providers to ensure the prompt and precise processing of 1099 forms.
- Analyze tax-related data and assist Tax Leadership in reviewing Form 1099 reporting for clients.
- Provide regular updates on tax processing status to the Client Centric Team.
- Address inquiries regarding required minimum distributions (RMD) and general tax matters.
- Support Tax Leadership in the review of Form 1041 for trusts, ensuring compliance with established parameters.
- Assist the Estate Settlement Team in reviewing tax returns and processing tax-related tasks.
- Oversee the distribution of various reports and tax returns for client mailing and filing with the appropriate tax authorities.
- Engage with the Internal Revenue Service and state tax authorities as necessary.
- Monitor legislative changes in tax laws and regulations, communicating relevant updates to the Client Centric Team.
- Conduct quarterly training sessions for internal client-facing team members and support the professional growth of Tax Coordinators.
- Provide assistance with client gift processing.
Qualifications for Success:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent education and experience.
- A minimum of two to three years of experience in Trust and Estate Tax.
- Experience with IRAs is required.
- Currently pursuing CPA and/or EA certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Familiarity with trust accounting software and data warehousing is highly desirable.
- Experience with OneSource Trust Tax software is preferred.
- Demonstrated history of providing exceptional customer service.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Effective project management capabilities.
- Able to articulate ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly manner.
- Utilizes effective organization and time management techniques.
- Committed to achieving 100% accuracy with a keen attention to detail.
- Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Skilled in identifying and implementing process improvements.
