Job Title: Skating Coach

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Skating Coach to join our team at Oakland Ice Center. As a Skating Coach, you will be responsible for teaching the technical aspects of skating and ensuring that ice skating in our facilities is enjoyable and rewarding for all.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain accurate class attendance records.
  • Be familiar with all maneuvers taught at each level of Solar4America Ice curriculum and the ISI program.
  • Decide which maneuvers to teach and review, and assist with class lesson setup.
  • Meet and exceed customer expectations by providing fun, friendly, and organized classes.
  • Supervise and engage students during practice times, and develop social skills.
  • Meet with parents to discuss student progress, and keep students and parents informed of skating competitions and activities.
  • Assist with rental skates, check new students for proper fit, and promote ISI testing.
  • Prepare and submit payroll sheets on time, and recommend class levels for re-enrollment.
  • Promote re-enrollment and encourage new enrollment, and stay up-to-date with the latest skating rules and trends.
  • Promote the Pro Shop, and follow all rink rules, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Must be able to wear the assigned uniform during all shifts.
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, and possibly holidays, and late nights.
  • Possess a record of high achievement as an ice skater or coach in Figure Skating, Hockey, Speed Skating, or Dance.
  • Able to work well with youth, adults, and maintain positive relationships with customers.
  • Good working knowledge of Ice Skating Institute programs and other skating clubs and organizations.
