Ambulatory Care Nurse

A skilled and effective clinician is required to provide nursing care in an ambulatory setting. The ideal candidate will have a proficient level of nursing expertise and be able to independently prioritize and manage patient care in a variety of situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on observations and assessment of patient needs.
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) monitoring to maintain or improve care of designated patient population.
- Implement appropriate reporting, referrals, and care in accordance with standardized procedures.
- Initiate emergency procedures when indicated.
- Provide direct and indirect care services, including administration of medications and therapeutic agents necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitative plan of care.
- Perform skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and initiation of peripheral venous access.
- Observe signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications/treatments, general behavior, and/or general physical condition.
- Prioritize identified patient care problems within assigned patients and assume responsibility for problem resolution, using all resources as appropriate.
- Plan patient care and education based on disease process, anticipated patient outcomes, complications of treatment, and psycho-social needs in collaboration with other healthcare team members.
- Provide care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Identify patients' readiness for learning and ability to follow directions/instructions and give consent.
- Participate in evidence-based improvement initiatives and/or councils/committees that improve nursing outcomes and the work environment in their unit/department.
- Identify and assess patient safety concerns with respect to age and developmental considerations. Intervene to provide a safe environment and evaluate effectiveness of intervention for patient.
- Provide and accurately document direct and indirect patient care services that ensure the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients in a timely manner.
Requirements
Education:
Associate's degree/College diploma in Nursing required. Bachelor's degree in Science in Nursing (state-accredited program) preferred.
License and Certification:
- California RN state license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
- ANCC Specialty Certification preferred.
Experience:
One (1) year of relevant ambulatory or acute care experience in the area of specialty required.
