A regional transportation safety compliance analyst will evaluate various safety indicators, scrutinize routine operational procedures, and oversee safety protocols to ensure adherence to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations within the designated area.

This role will offer regional assistance and will be accountable for documenting, reporting, and escalating issues in line with transportation safety metrics. The analyst will lead data-driven initiatives for program enhancements, conduct training sessions, facilitate workshops, and provide expert advice on transportation safety matters. Coordination with Risk and Legal departments will be essential as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular compliance assessments for FMCSA regulations concerning fleet equipment, including but not limited to: documentation, inspections, markings, and training.
  • Deliver corrective coaching and support to centers based on incidents, compliance breaches, LYTX evaluations, or ELD adherence. Aid in root cause analysis and assist centers in developing clear corrective action strategies. Follow up to ensure completion and improvement.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams and/or conduct investigations for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) incidents and associated workers' compensation claims.
  • Oversee and ensure accurate reporting for transportation-related accidents and injuries, both internally and to regulatory bodies.
  • Regularly verify the accuracy and follow-up of inspections carried out by the logistics team to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Examples include: Pre/Post Trip Inspections, Yard Protocol, Driver Alerts, Electronic On-board Recorder notifications, CSA Violations.
  • Support and train Safety Coordinators in both direct and train-the-trainer formats to ensure local proficiency in transportation safety practices, protocols, and compliance reviews.
  • Perform periodic evaluations of transportation compliance audits to identify trends and areas for enhancement.
  • Lead safety meetings on a weekly, monthly, and daily basis as necessary for operational needs.
Regional Support and Guidance
  • Provide leadership and direction in proactive transportation safety initiatives.
  • Assist leadership with all transportation safety-related requirements.
  • Hold regular discussions with site delivery and service coordinators to review current trends and transportation safety initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment with company policies and expectations across the region.
  • Provide relevant regional data and participate in weekly regional safety discussions.
  • Manage accident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action identification for all sites within the region.
  • Conduct center and regional assessments to identify transportation safety needs and offer coaching and training support.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of FMCSA driver qualification standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of DOT guidelines, OSHA compliance, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act, including FMCSR.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including internet-based databases, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities; exceptional attention to detail and accuracy; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of DOT compliance is essential; experience in transportation departments is required.
  • Experience in accident reduction through education, guidance, and influence with key stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience in warehouse, distribution, or fulfillment center environments.
  • Experience in leading and supporting organizational culture changes.
  • Experience managing multi-site, multi-state transportation safety responsibilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication capabilities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within and across departments.
  • Ability to influence and partner with leadership.
  • Capacity to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Willingness to travel within the US and Canada on a limited basis (40%).
  • Flexibility to work nonstandard hours to address emergencies.
  • Experience utilizing metrics and data for work management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Board certification as a Safety Professional.
  • Familiarity with Canadian federal, provincial, and territorial workplace health and safety regulations.
