Position Overview:
We are currently looking for a qualified Nurse Practitioner specializing in Wound Care to deliver comprehensive wound management services to patients in long-term care facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer wound care and primary healthcare services to residents in skilled nursing facilities.
- Prescribe necessary medications, including controlled substances, in compliance with state regulations.
- Order, assess, and monitor treatments and diagnostic tests.
- Maintain regular communication with nursing home staff regarding patient condition changes.
- Collaborate closely with primary care physicians to ensure cohesive patient care.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- Valid and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Ohio.
- Board Certification is required.
- DEA licensure is optional.
- Clinical experience in adult, family, or geriatric care is essential.
- Experience in wound care, particularly with chronic, complex, or infected wounds.
- Proficient in diagnosing and treating various types of wounds, including diabetic and pressure injuries.
- Familiarity with staging pressure injuries according to NPIAP standards.
- Knowledge of advanced wound care products and best practices.
- Experience with wound vacs and other durable medical equipment.
- Preference for candidates with wound certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Experience in a long-term care environment is preferred.
- Ability to navigate electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Capability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care team.
- Basic coding knowledge is a plus but not mandatory.
