About the Role

Helping Hand is seeking a skilled Physical Therapist to join our team. As a Physical Therapist, you will provide physical therapy services to students and clients across our agency. This role may involve working with students in our school, clients in our outpatient clinic, and/or individuals in our adult program.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct evaluations for students and clients to assess their physical therapy needs.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to help students and clients achieve their goals.
  • Provide physical therapy services to students and clients in individual and group settings.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to create individualized curriculum and programming for each student/client.
  • Attend IDT meetings and collaborate with adult services staff as necessary.
  • Complete family phone calls and communication to provide consistency between the school, clinic, and day program.
Requirements
  • DPT - Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (following January 1, 2015) or Master's in Physical Therapy (if prior to January 1, 2015).
  • A current State of Illinois License for Physical Therapy.
  • Experience working with children and adults ages 3-22 years (preferred).
  • Experience with autism spectrum disorders and other diagnoses (i.e., intellectual disability, developmental delay, etc.).
Work Environment

The person in this position needs to occasionally move about to assist clients/students, access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. This position requires team members to work with individuals exhibiting physical aggression; must be comfortable working in periods of crisis and feel comfortable de-escalating individually or as a team. Capability to lift and assist students/clients with physical needs; which may require moderate physical exertion.
