Surgical Services Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Services team at Oswego Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the delivery of high-quality services.
Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse will work under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager, providing total nursing care to patients of all ages. You will effectively interact with patients and healthcare members, maintaining standards of professional nursing. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing individual patient learning needs, developing and implementing nursing interventions, and directing implementation of nursing care.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, provide, and evaluate patient care as a member of the healthcare team, adhering to principles of asepsis and infection control guidelines.
- Assess individual patient learning needs and institute teaching methods in preparation for discharge.
- Regularly assess nursing care, identify potential problems, develop nursing interventions, and direct implementation of nursing care.
- Delegate staff assignments and responsibilities effectively, assuming responsibility for leadership position within the department.
- Transcribe and implement physician orders per policy and procedure.
- Accurately record all pertinent information on the patient's medical record, according to policy and procedure.
- Identify and correlate abnormal diagnostic data with patient status, reporting and recording appropriately.
- Prepare and administer medications via all acceptable routes, including appropriate documentation.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure in NYS.
- Current certification in CPR.
- Unit-specific orientation.
This role requires frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling beds, wheelchairs, and recliners in excess of approximately 200 pounds with assistance. You will also be required to lift, carry, reposition, and transfer patients using proper body mechanics.
