Job Summary

The Engineering Technician II - Design and Production Specialist plays a crucial role in creating functional design deliverables from engineering calculations and guidance, and/or cost-effective detailed design ship production deliverables using functional design documentation. This position assists in determining the technical requirements of the project and defining resource requirements to achieve schedule commitments within the field of competence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and develop 2D deliverables, including detailed designs and technical specifications.
  • Develop 3D models of systems and components within core competency, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Solve technical issues under the guidance of department supervision, applying problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Plan, estimate, schedule, and monitor assigned work, ensuring timely completion and quality delivery.
  • Track and report progress to commitments, maintaining transparency and accountability.
  • Oversee the work status of assigned resources, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Facilitate communications of issues and solutions within assigned departments, promoting collaboration and effective problem-solving.
  • Prepare, check, and issue professional-quality deliverables, adhering to company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret contract requirements, ensuring compliance and accuracy in design and production deliverables.
  • Develop contract change documents to support project needs, applying business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures, maintaining a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.
  • May be required to lead or participate in product improvement projects, applying leadership skills and business acumen.
Leadership Responsibilities

The Engineering Technician II - Design and Production Specialist may lead a team of up to 3 employees, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Key leadership responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, as well as resolving problems and demonstrating leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company.

Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree (2-year degree) in a field of competence (or equivalent) or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of equivalent experience.
  • User experience of primary design tools (AutoCAD 2D/3D, 3D ShipConstructor desirable).
  • 2-5 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the field of competence.
  • Six Sigma or LEAN training desired.
