Role Responsibilities
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will evaluate and treat patients experiencing acute or chronic discomfort resulting from illness or injury within the confines of an on-site clinic. Responsibilities include conducting patient interviews, reviewing medical histories, performing physical examinations, and developing a differential diagnosis list aimed at reaching a final diagnosis. The APP operates independently, providing first aid for injured workers, assessing tasks for safety risks, and engaging in a
site Health & Wellness initiative, as well as participating in the workers' compensation process.
Key Duties
- Gather comprehensive medical histories and physical assessments of patients, reviewing existing records.
- Analyze and integrate patient data.
- Conduct physical examinations and document findings accurately.
- Create a Differential Diagnosis list.
- Occasionally, in collaboration with the Amphibious Medics medical director, order off-site laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Compile data to establish preliminary diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Administer medications and manage prescriptions as required.
- Educate patients and families about medications, treatment plans, and monitoring outcomes.
- Consult with the Amphibious Medics medical director as needed.
- Keep the medical director informed of any significant patient findings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within professional qualifications.
- Manage patient phone inquiries as necessary.
- Provide triage, first aid, or referrals to external medical providers when indicated.
- Attend required medical and interdisciplinary meetings and training sessions.
- Engage in committee participation if requested.
- Partake in professional development activities and maintain relevant affiliations.
- Assist in organizing annual, semi-annual, or quarterly onsite health fairs.
- Participate in regular medical and safety awareness sessions with construction personnel.
- Oversee on-site inventory of supplies, ensuring equipment used in employee treatment is restocked and maintained.
- Communicate with external medical providers regarding workers' injury and recovery progress, providing direct follow-up care.
- Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
- Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures.
- Submit daily activity logs to the safety and management teams.
- Conduct frequent site visits to engage with both workers and management.
Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in direct patient care.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Must possess a valid Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license.
- Capability to lift and carry at least 35 lbs.
- Ability to walk and/or stand for a minimum of five hours during a workday.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license.
- Current CPR certification at the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider level (American Heart Association) or Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross).
- Experience with OSHA regulations, particularly 29 CFR 1910.
- Background in large-scale construction environments.
- Familiarity with the workers' compensation claims process.
- Instructor certification for First Aid, CPR, and AED training.
- Active OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
