The University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Inpatient Registered Nurse to join our team in the Inpatient Unit. As a critical care nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to patients of all ages suffering from various types of illness or trauma.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, direct, perform, and evaluate patient care in the Inpatient Unit.
  • Collaborate with clinical and front office staff, administration, and other professional disciplines to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Manage care within established standards of nursing care and practice as defined by the state of Indiana and required by hospital accrediting bodies.
  • Initiate care to stabilize patients and assist in managing life support needs by collaborating with physicians and clinical staff.
  • Provide high-quality and high-satisfaction bedside care and administer treatments under the direct supervision of the physician.
  • Accurately and concisely document services provided within the medical record in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with CLIA regulations and established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in QAPI activities, including participation in accreditation preparation and survey process and maintenance of accreditation, state, and CMS standards.
  • Attend and participate in all applicable facility meetings, training, and development workshops, and reviews/understands all required policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper supplies, appropriate medical equipment, and medications are available for patient care and par levels meet patient and facility needs.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse, in good standing, licensed in the state of Indiana.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a hospital progressive care or intensive care unit or equivalent experience.
  • Current BLS and ACLS required.

Working Conditions

  • Job Type/FTE: Registry (.10FTE)
  • Shift: Nights – 7:00pm-7:00am
  • Unit/Department: Inpatient
  • CBA Code: Non-Union

Additional Requirements

  • Must comply with UCMC's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment.
  • Pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are also required for all employees prior to hire.
